The Two Sides

Of Dental Implants

When you’re missing one or more teeth, there are two very different ways it impacts your mouth. One the one side, you may not feel as confident with your smile. Even missing back teeth can show when you’re laughing, and for many of my patients, this loss of confidence has a pretty big impact on their lives.

On the other side, your oral – and even overall – health can suffer. Every tooth in our mouth serves an important purpose – both for chewing the delicious and nutritious foods that keep your body healthy – and for keeping your jawbones strong and your other teeth in place. Missing teeth can therefore not only directly affect your confidence by the gaps they cause, but over time can also change the way the rest of your face and mouth looks. Drifting teeth and jawbone loss almost always occur after you lose even one tooth.

Dental implants are a permanent solution to these issues. First, we insert a post (implant) into your jawbone. It will work as your old tooth root did to stimulate your jawbone, so it stays strong and healthy, and keeps the neighbouring teeth in place … just as your old tooth root did. Then, when the implant is strong enough to support a permanent crown, we place the crown.

The result? A natural-looking smile that allows you to eat, smile, and laugh with confidence, and a healthy oral environment that supports your ability to eat the healthy foods that support a healthy life.
